NGLAMBOR BEACH

Aquarium Universe Guarded pair of Giant Tortoise

Coastal sea floor like the aquarium Nglambor universe to save a million charm. Services on a pair of "giant turtles" are able to tame the ferocious waves of the Indian Ocean, the underwater panorama on the south coast of this sort can be dived beauty.

The fierce surf beaches in the south of Yogyakarta often make people shudder and reluctant to approach. Chasing the waves coming from the direction of the vast ocean as dispel race so we do not approach the water. Unlike the beaches on the north side of Java is more friendly, the edges of the land that directly address the breadth of the Indian Ocean is not a suitable place to enjoy the fun of swimming in salt water or the thrill of snorkeling witness the beauty of the underwater panorama along small fish. Until we are forced to settle for playing water on the outskirts, in a foaming seas began to disappear. But when we visited Nglambor beach, swimming and snorkeling on the south coast that had seemed impossible, in fact, be done.

Trekking about fifteen minutes from the parking lot into our choice to end a three-hour drive bounced on the vehicle. Too dangerous terrain with steep dip require our streets on foot or hire a seasoned motorcycle taxi services rather than bring the vehicle up close to the beach alone.

Passing through the gap in the hedge sea pandan (Pandanus tectorius), we reached the shore. A gang of young man with a bright orange-colored life jacket complete with snorkel equipment other, enthusiastic and could not wait to swim and dive in shallow waters. Nglambor Coast region is one of the snorkeling destinations in the coastal area south of Yogyakarta which has a stunning panoramic view of the sea floor with a variety of coral reefs and marine life. Sergeant Major fish types, Jambrong and a few small fish are a permanent resident who is seen frequently swim clustered or playing hide and seek in the crevices of coral reefs.

Beautiful scenery covered this wave is strictly maintained by the local community Nglambor Beach. In fact, this coastal area is an area of cultivation of several species of fish and coral reef conservation sites and other marine life. Ngalangi sea alms ceremony tradition was also done at this beach. "Ngalangi" in Javanese means blocking or banning. Communities around the beach Nglambor forbids anyone to catch fish in coastal areas but once a year, outside the fish spawning season. The procession of fishing could only be done by using gawar, a kind of tree roots wawar nets anchored and driven together into the sea by the local community.

As if not to be outdone, nature also helped preserve and maintain the beauty of the universe aquarium with coral ordered two giant tortoises to patrol the coast guard. Gallantly "Watu Bats" and "Watu Kuntul" tame the ferocious waves so not too hard to hit the beach. The existence of two coral giant tortoises that make coral reefs are not damaged slammed Nglambor Beach waves, as well as safe for snorkeling.

Using a snorkel equipment complete with shoes and life jackets, we were immediately greeted the occupants neritik zone is assisted by one of the guides. Incidentally when we come is the best time to snorkel, when the sea water is not tide, but also not too recede. There are two rental snorkel equipment at the beach, snorkeling Nglambor Star (BNS) and Pokdarwis Nglambor Lestari, so we did not bother to bring equipment from home.

The remnants of the south beach waves that have been tamed provide sensation when snorkeling in Turkish Nglambor. Quite often when we've struggled to swim a bit to the middle, the waves dragged us up to the edge again. With the expertise of a beginner, our diving with extreme caution so as not to step on coral reef ecosystems and damage the seabed on this beach. We do not want to add the threat of damage to reefs caused by human activities such as overfishing, coastal development and the bleaching of coral reefs (coral bleaching). Because part of the seabed nan riveting front of us require a very long time to dress beautify themselves. If the seafloor ecosystem is damaged, the business community and two giant turtles coast guard would seem futile. Nglambor beach with all its inhabitants have feast for the eyes with all the stunning natural makeup. As the audience could not hurt us care for its preservation, together with the surrounding community ease the tasks of two coral giant tortoise.

After joking and taking pictures with the fishes, the rocks on the south side of the beach nan shady became the target for a short rest, enjoy the sea breeze while drying clothes. Not far from where we were sitting there a source of fresh water emanating from the crack into small rocks. At first we were surprised that no source of fresh water on the beach. But the phenomenon of fresh water that appears in Turkish Nglambor turned out to be due to the karst hall resembles a U pipe that serves as a conduit of ground water, as said one of the researchers karst climatology expert from LIPI.

Wind gusts swept beach, we did not realize the sun is getting higher and had wet clothes dried. We soon moved, changed clothes clean and packing supplies. Now it's time to say goodbye to a pair of giant tortoises and to let them continue the task of keeping the beach as usual.
